There are many different types of skin care products; some are developed to be used by all skin types, and others are created to address certain skin issues. AMBI® is a product line which was founded in 1966 to meet the needs of women of African, Latin and South Asian heritage, who are often left out of the skin care equation by many skin developers.
AMBI® is advertised as being especially designed to enable women to keep their “skin clear and even toned”, but this may be problematic for some women, due to melanin issues. Melanin is a natural element in the skin which regulates its color or pigment to create skin tone. AMBI® has a rather extensive product line, so let’s take a look at it to see what it is and what it may offer women.

AMBI® has a wide range of products available to women. These lines are as follows: Facial Skincare, which was created to keep skin clear, smooth and even-toned; Fade Creams, used to fade dark marks and even tone; Specialty Bars to cleanse skin; Acne Clearing Treatment to clear and prevent breakouts, as well as reduce dark marks; Exfoliating Wash to exfoliate and clean skin, as well as prevent breakouts; and finally, the Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30, which is used to nourish the skin, and even out skin tone.

It is the AMBI® Even & Clear Facial Care products that are very popular among individuals seeking to even out skin tone, cleanse the skin and ease dark spots. Their whole line contains a proprietary element they call EvenBlend™, which combines Soy Extract and antioxidant Vitamins C & E to “help even tone while refining and softening skin”. They also use Salicylic Acid in their products to keep acne-prone skin clear.
Soy Extract has been shown to be an antioxidant, as well as having anti-inflammatory properties. Soy is often used to stimulate the production of Hyaluronic Acid in skin, which is proven to maintain its suppleness and elasticity, as well as its smoothness. However, when it comes to anti-aging products, we prefer to see developers use actual Hyaluronic Acid, which has been shown to be far more effective; although for a product such as this one, the use of Soy may be acceptable.
Vitamins C & E are also heavily featured in this formula, no doubt due to their antioxidant content, and their said ability to fight off the effects of free radicals caused by the damage created by the sun and environmental toxins. Vitamin C has been used to increase Collagen production. However, we believe Real Collagen is better suited for creating this effect, but for a formula such as this one, Vitamin C may be adequate. Salicylic Acid is used to exfoliate the skin, and keep bacteria at bay, while also addressing the direct cause of acne and skin blemishes.

AMBI® Skin Care Products are not available through this developer’s website at time of this review, but they are available through other online retailers, as well as major food and drug retailers and local beauty supply stores. The website provides a list, but we are sure some online shoppers would have preferred to be able to place their order directly through the AMBI® website. Many developers offer this option, and still others are only available online.

AMBI® Skin Care offers women of African, Latin and South Asian heritage a skin care line designed to enable them to have clear and even toned skin, as well as moisturize their skin. However, for those women who are seeking to keep wrinkles or facial lines at bay, this product line may not be the most viable option available to them. It does not use known anti-aging elements, such as Hyaluronic Acid or real Collagen, each of which support the skin in retaining and promoting suppleness, elasticity and smoothness, while fighting wrinkles.
Also, as noted earlier, this line is not available directly through this website, but it is available online and in stores. We find ordering online is a great way to access special deals and get easy access to products, but we always suggest seeking out products that offer a comprehensive return policy. This is especially true when ordering skin care products, because some developers make it really hard to return them. Fortunately, this is not the case among the more reputable manufacturers.
