Aqua Glycolic® |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
Aqua Glycolic® by Merz Pharmaceuticals is said to be an “Alpha Hydroxy Acid Skin Care System For All Skin Types.” Furthermore, Aqua Glycolic® is claimed to be pH-buffered to be less irritating to the skin. The “system” is said to smooth wrinkles, exfoliate the skin, cleanse sensitive skin, refresh sun-damaged skin and even improve acne. The official website also features the standard claim that almost every line of skin products use: the product is said to be dermatologist recommended.
Thus, to many of us, believing in a manufacturer that comes up with such a claim may be quite a step. Furthermore, at this time, the Aqua Glycolic® website does not list the complete ingredients in its products; also, as of this review, the manufacturer does not seem to offer an attractive return and refund policy. Therefore, we will take a look at Aqua Glycolic® to conclude whether it may really provide the wonderful effects it promises.

As mentioned above, the basic claim about the “system” seems to be that it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, they do not seem to offer a specific anti-wrinkle cream. Its line of products is as follows: Facial Cleanser, Toner, Face Cream, Shampoo & Body Cleanser and Hand & Body Lotion. The Face Cream is claimed to hydrate and exfoliate the skin, as well as smooth fine lines and even skin tone.

 | Products in Focus |
The only ingredient disclosed is Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which may be found naturally in fruits and sour milk, as well as in the form of synthetically produced compounds. They are often found in products claiming to reduce wrinkles or the signs of aging, and improve the overall look and feel of the skin. However, for some people, there may be mild side effects to using Alpha Hydroxy Acids, like skin irritations, redness and flaking. They may also increase photosensitivity to the sun.
In any case, the product lacks fresh Collagen, which is the main connective tissue in our body responsible for developing new tissues, especially skin tissues. Nevertheless, we believe that there are skin creams with Collagen that genuinely hydrate the skin, reduce line formations, increase the elasticity of the skin tissue and make us feel great without having to spend a lot of money.

 | Website |
We believe that the manufacturer could have gained our trust more if their official website had disclosed the complete ingredients. Furthermore, as of this review, testimonials and before & after pictures are unavailable. The return and refund policy is also not clearly listed. The “where to buy” link in the website takes customers to the Merz Pharmaceuticals website, which we find fair enough. Buying online directly through manufacturers effectively eliminates the middleman.

 | Positives |
• Topical applications with official online presence
|
 | Negatives |
• May not contain proven ingredients, like Collagen and Sodium Hyaluronate
• Official manufacturer website does not list ingredients at this time
• No online testimonials on the product as of this review
• Return and refunds not clearly listed and explained

 | Final Thoughts |
Therefore, we believe Aqua Glycolic® may not really be worth a trial. For one thing, we are disappointed by the lack of information on the ingredients used. Furthermore, while the product has an official online presence, we believe the website may not really be valuable. The manufacturer fails to list extensive testimonials, and does not state whether an opened product may be returned for a refund.
Of course, some anti-aging and anti-wrinkle creams may work wonders. However, it may be difficult to choose the best product available, since the market is saturated with many mediocre products. Therefore, we believe the best way to go about it would be to first look at the ingredients. Secondly, many women may wish to look at the prices. Thirdly, testimonials and effective media coverage on a product may be a good way to gauge a product’s effectiveness. Fourthly, those with an attractive return and refund policy, whereby even an opened container may be returned, may be worth a trial.
