Avon Anew Retroactive is advertised to fight against aging, while cleansing the skin. This formula contains a wide array of elements – many of which are natural. However, for the most part, these elements may be low or no performers when it comes to aging. For instance, we find Lagerstroemia Indica Extract, which is also known as Crepe Myrtle, has not shown any potentiality for increasing skin health or impeding the aging process.
Plankton has been touted as being beneficial for general nutrition, cardiovascular health, cholesterol, sugar levels, neurological support and joint health, as well as being able to ease skin issues, such as Psoriasis and Dermatitis. However, we find it has not been scientifically proven to augment skin health, or directly affect wrinkles, facial lines or skin sagging.
On the other hand, Sunflower Oil, a non-volatile plant oil, has been shown to moisturize the skin, so it may feel smoother. It is used in many cosmetics and skin care products. Soy Extract contains many antioxidants, and it may well assist people in fighting free radicals that may cause skin damage. It is also well known for its anti-inflammatory abilities, which may have a healthful effect on the skin. Soy Extract is often used because it is believed to have a Collagen-stimulating effect, which may improve skin thickness, suppleness and elasticity. However, we prefer to see products use Real Collagen, because it has been shown to have more potentiality in this arena and is easily absorbed by the skin.

The Avon website provides all the bells and whistles they could wish for in a retailer or developer website, in terms of product related information. However, we would have liked if they provided more information regarding their return policy. We find it is rather sketchy - merely telling consumers to return the product to the point of sale, or to their representative. We always find this disconcerting, because some websites make it really hard to return skin care products, while others make it easy and hassle-free.

Clearly, Avon Anew Retroactive has brand name recognition, and many people may well give this product a second look because of its name. However, those women who are looking for more than a good cleanser and moisturizer may be disappointed with this product’s performance. We find it does not use many of the more potent anti-aging elements; although it claims to keep wrinkles and facial lines at bay. We have noticed that individuals who are interested in directly addressing these issues seek out a products that contain Real Collagen, Matrixyl 3000® and Argireline®.
Finally, we feel that we can’t stress it enough that women who are looking to purchase skin care products online should thoroughly review the products return policy, because some developers make it hard to return products, while others offer hassle-free returns.
