Dermalex MD™ |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
Dermalex-MD™ is a skin care product advertised to remove obvious dark circles under the eyes. According to the website, the product may “eliminate the root cause of dark circles” and will strengthen capillaries in order to prevent future formation of these dark circles. Additionally, it is said to improve the texture and thickness of the skin.
As women grow older, they may notice that their facial skin becomes drier, and that fine lines do not disappear as they once did, especially around the eye area. A variety of products currently exist that attempt to combat the signs of aging, and some formulas are clearly more effective than others. We will take a close look at the formula used in Dermalex-MD™ to see how it may compare to other available products.

 | Ingredients at a Glance |
The active ingredients included in the Dermalex-MD™ formula are Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone to reduce leakage from capillaries; Chrysin to reduce swelling and puffiness; Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Palmitoyl Oligopeptide to boost the metabolism of skin cells; and Cucumber Extract to diminish inflammation around the eyes.
Several other vitamins are included in the formula to protect, soothe and heal the skin. We will look more closely at the active ingredients below.

 | Ingredients in Focus |
Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone is derived from citrus fruits and has antioxidant properties. As mentioned above, it is thought to reduce leakage from capillaries, effectively stopping dark circles before they form. It is thought to reduce swelling and puffiness as well.
Chrysin is also a flavonoid derived from plant compounds. It is believed to have the ability to dilate blood vessels, which may prevent dark circles from forming, and may also have anti-inflammatory properties. It is said to have a synergistic effect when used with Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone.

 | Lifestyle |
According to the website, this product is said to be suitable for use as both a day and night eye cream, and is meant to be applied to the entire eye area. This method may be appealing to those mainly concerned with lines around their eyes, but some women may prefer a formula that is designed for the entire face.
Many products on the market contain a formula that is beneficial for firming all facial skin tissues and to repair it from further damage. Women may prefer a formula that contains clinically proven ingredients for firming the skin; we like those that contain Argireline®. Argireline® is an amino peptide that has been shown in clinical trials to reduce wrinkles by 30% over a 30-day period. Because of its proven effectiveness, many products include it in their formulas and market it as a BOTOX® alternative.

 | Final Thoughts |
Use of Dermalex-MD™ may be useful for aiding in wrinkle reduction around the eye area. We appreciate that the product contains natural extracts in its formula, and it may reduce dark circles in some cases. However, as mentioned, it likely does not address other areas of the facial skin that may also be in need of extra care.
As discussed, the popular ingredient, Argireline®, has been clinically shown to relax the facial muscles; the amino peptide patented formula was designed to mimic the actions of BOTOX® without actually paralyzing the muscles. When muscles contract, lines form in those areas with the most delicate skin; by limiting the strength of these contractions, facial expressions will not be lost, but the wrinkles will be significantly reduced. For those seeking a product with ingredients that have been clinically tested and proven to improve the entire skin’s appearance, products that contain Argireline® may be preferred. We suggest looking for one that has gotten a lot of positive feedback from other women.
