Dr. Brandt Skincare |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
Dr. Brandt Skincare is a line of skincare products developed by “Dr. Brandt,” a doctor whose first name and precise medical credentials do not seem to be cited. The skincare line is said to be “the natural evolution of Dr. Brandt’s professional practice and research.” It is claimed that these products “represent the fusion of science with active botanicals.” The company’s anti-aging products are said to feature ingredients such as “green tea, white tea and grape seed extract.”
We are rather disappointed by the relatively unproven ingredients utilized in this company’s products. Perhaps more disturbing, we find that some of these products contain Parabens, which have recently come under scrutiny for their potential role in breast cancer. We are shocked to think that a doctor would condone such ingredients. In addition, we are unable to locate information about this company’s return policy at the time of review. We will evaluate this company for the true potency of its skincare products.

 | Products at a Glance |
Dr. Brandt Skincare sells an assortment of cleansers/toners, moisturizers, exfoliators, and UV protection products. The company also markets products especially designed for different skin types, such as oily/combination, dry/sensitive and normal. The company features a line of anti-aging products that are devoted to “protecting collagen and elastin.” There are also various skincare kits, gift packages and skin-tightening products. Also available is a line of “poreless” products, designed to minimize the appearance of pores and combat blemishes and oily skin.

 | Products in Focus |
For this review, we will focus on one product, the Crease Release wrinkle reducer. This product, which is dubbed a “celebrity favorite,” is said to feature “the unique, highly effective complex GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) a patented breakthrough that releases the skin's own muscle relaxers.” In our research, we find that GABA is said to have “anti-anxiety and anti-convulsive effects.” While some studies reportedly indicate GABA may increase the body’s levels of Human Growth Hormone, these findings have been challenged. One researcher claims that “the results of those studies have been seldom replicated and have recently been in question since it is unknown if GABA can pass the blood-brain barrier.”
We would add that this product, by the manufacturer’s own admission, works for only “8 to 10 hours.” We certainly would have preferred to see ingredients with the potential to produce lasting results, such as Collagen and Argireline®. We are also disappointed to discover that this product contains various Parabens, which have recently been linked to breast cancer in some studies.

 | Website |
This product’s Website seems to be professionally designed and presentable. However, we would have preferred to see more extensive information provided about Dr. Brandt, such as his first name. We feel that manufacturers are obligated to hold themselves accountable by providing all relevant information. We are also disappointed to discover that, at the time of review, there does not seem to be any information about the company’s return policy. We feel it is important that individuals have some recourse against a potentially flawed or ineffective product. Finally, we think some of these products seem rather expensive (the Crease Release product costs about $150 for one ounce).
|
 | Positives |
• Individuals may get a “customized regimen”
• Wide variety of products available
• Products seem suitable for men and women
|
 | Negatives |
• Some products contain Parabens, which may be linked to breast cancer
• We could not locate information about return policy at time of review
• Incomplete information provided about Dr. Brandt as of review
• GABA is not said to be proven for anti-aging
|
 | Final Thoughts |
We believe that women purchasing a skincare product should not need to worry about potential cancer risks associated with these products. For this reason, we urge individuals to avoid skin care products that contain Parabens.
We also believe that people deserve to make purchases with the assurance of a full refund, if unsatisfied. Individuals may wish to seek out manufacturers with clear return policies, consumer testimonials and up-front disclosure about their companies.
