June Jacobs |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
June Jacobs is a manufacturer of various “spa”-type skincare products. These products are said to be “unique and elegant,” containing “high concentrations of botanical and plant extracts that have been carefully selected for their ability to deliver superior results." This company seems to also market “anti-inflammatory” products, as well as “signature fragrances.”
It seems to us that this company specializes in “high-end,” upscale spa products, which seem to be as much about image as about substance. Accordingly, we found the prices of these products to be somewhat exorbitant. We were also disappointed to discover no apparent information about this company’s return policy at the time of review. We feel that a clearly articulated return policy is crucial to a sense of consumer trust and fair trade. We will evaluate this company for its quality and practicality in today’s skincare market.

 | Products at a Glance |
June Jacobs markets a wide variety of moisturizers, serums, eye creams, exfoliants, scrubs and toners. The company also sells masques, hand and foot care products, and sunscreen items. The “specialty” product category includes products such as massage oil, candles, eye makeup removers, robes, shirts, tote bags and beach towels. June Jacobs also sells “anti-inflammatory skin creams, as well as a line of fragrances.

 | Products in Focus |
For this review, we will focus on one of the company’s major anti-aging products, the Age Defying Copper Complex. This product is said to “help correct damaged cells and dramatically firms and moisturizes fatigued skin.” It is said to contain “fortifying anti-oxidants and bioavailable hydrators that synergistically deliver gradual, continual results.” While we were pleased to discover that this product contains Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid, we would have preferred to see additional advanced ingredients.
Today, the ingredients Argireline and Matrixyl-3000® are known for their ability to replenish the skin’s moisture and suppleness, and smooth deep wrinkles. The absence of these ingredients was rather disappointing, particularly given this item’s price of about $146. Given this “upscale” price tag we would have expected to see nothing less than our skincare “dream team,” yet only a few of these premium ingredients seem to be included.

 | Website |
The June Jacobs Website is organized, professional, and detailed. Its presentation is appealing and straightforward, and we found that most of the relevant information is provided. We did not, however, find any consumer testimonials on this Website at the time of review. We believe that consumer testimonials are crucial to gaining an objective sense of a product’s effectiveness. In addition, we were not able to locate any information about this company’s return policy at the time of review. Especially at the kinds of prices commanded for these products, we would hope that consumers would be able to obtain a refund for unsatisfactory products.
|
 | Positives |
• Anti-aging product contains Collagen
• Contains Hyaluronic Acid
• Company sells novelty items such as beach towels, candles
|
 | Negatives |
• Anti-aging product does not contain Argireline
• Does not appear to contain Matrixyl 3000®
• Website seems to lack consumer testimonials
• At about $146, anti-aging product seems expensive
|
 | Final Thoughts |
In the end, consumers of skincare products do not really need candles, bath towels or any of the other “spa” trappings that are used in marketing products such as these. Primarily, consumers want products that are effective, and ideally at an affordable price.
We are aware of some other skincare products that contain both Collagen and Hyaluronic acid, but cost a fraction of this product’s price. Moreover, some similar products take their formulas a step further with ingredients such as Argireline and Matrixyl 3000®.
