MaMa Lotion |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
MaMa Lotion is a skin care product that was created by MCK Laboratories, and it is available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Philippines and South Africa. MaMa Lotion is this manufacturer’s only product for now, and, in fact, this developer has a rather minimal history in the skin care market. However, they promise that they will be adding several products to their line, such as MaMa Acne Treatment, Soothing C Cream, MaMa Body Lotion and M2.
MaMa Lotion may invoke memories of a mother’s soothing touch, but this product is not a soother. It is actually geared toward exfoliating dead and dull skin cells in order to generate brighter, younger and healthier skin.

 | Ingredients at a Glance |
MaMa Lotion only contains two active ingredients - Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid Gel; both of which are AHA’s. This is a gel-based product with a 20% AHA formulation that is made up of 10% Mandelic Acid and 10% Malic Acid. Many people may not know what AHA’s are, or what effect Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid Gel may have on their skin. However, we will take an in-depth look at these elements and the class of skin care products they belong to see what they may offer.
|
 | Ingredients in Focus |
Both Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid are naturally occurring elements that are found in nature. Mandelic Acid is found in bitter almonds, and Malic Acid is found in the starch of plant leaves and in bitter apples. As noted above, both of these elements are AHA’s, which are often used to exfoliate skin cells. They work by breaking down the substance in skin that holds skin cells together. This may reveal new, healthier looking skin.
However, the most effective AHA’s are said to be Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid, but Malic Acid, Citric Acid and Tartaric Acid may have some effect on the skin. However, these are, in fact, seen by experts to be less stable and less skin-friendly. Also, we find that at this time there is little research available that supports the belief that they may benefit the skin in any way.

 | Website |
This website makes a lot of promises about the abilities of MaMa Lotion, but at this time, the actual site is rather light on real product related information. They fail to post testimonials written by people who have used this product to address their skin needs. They also provide little company related information, which is disturbing to us, because this is a very new company. We believe that people should have access to all relevant information, especially when they are purchasing products that are being used directly on facial skin.
Also, along this same line of thinking, they have not provided any research regaining the abilities of Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid; although this is not a total surprise, given the rather low key nature of these elements.
|
 | Positives |
• Moderately priced
• Exfoliating lotion
|
 | Negatives |
• Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid are considered low-level AHA’s
• Full formulary is not disclosed as of review
• No research provided at this time

 | Final Thoughts |
Products such as MaMa Lotion that use AHA’s in their formulas to exfoliate skin have become rather popular. It may be a valid way to increase the appearance of facial skin, when using the best possible elements, in the right concentrations. Unfortunately, the AHA’s used in this product may be low performers, which will more than likely produce minimal results.
Also, while AHA’s may be exfoliators, we believe they are not really the best method of addressing wrinkles and facial lines. However, there are elements that may directly affect wrinkles at the source. For instance, Matrixyl 3000®, a peptide complex, has been shown to decrease wrinkle density, volume and depth.
Shopping online is a great resource that may assist many women in getting the best possible price, while saving time. However, we always suggest looking for developers that have a history in the skin care market, and which offer a full money-back guarantee, as well as easy onsite ordering options.
