Introduction & Overview |
Sisley is a company that specializes in cosmetics and skin care products, which are developed using all natural plant extracts and essential oils- gathered from all over the world, and with the intention of maintaining the extracts overall potency. Sisley has a rather diverse product line, which is primarily made up of cosmetics such as foundations, eye brow pencils, lip gloss and lip liner, as well as skin care products.
These kinds of products are very attractive to some consumers, but just because a product is advertised as being “all natural” does not mean it is effective. Working with natural extracts in order ease the signs of aging is rather complicated and requires a level of expertise not all developers have. Sisley’s HYDRA-GLOBAL Intense Anti-Aging Hydration serum was developed to help users hydrate their skin and prevent signs of facial aging. Let’s take a look at this product to see if it is the best product for the job.

 | Ingredients in Focus |
This product is very much advertised as being a hydration serum, which can help users look more youthful, reduce wrinkles and give them smoother skin. Padina Pavonica, Wild Pansy and Chestnut are the back bone of this formula, so let’s take a look at what their real abilities are in this arena.
Padina Pavonica does not actually exist in the world on its own, it is extracted from the external coating of brown algae, which is found in the Mediterranean Sea. It is thought to be able to help augment the firmness and elasticity of the skin. Wild pansy is actually an annual perennial herb, which is commonly found in many gardens. Traditionally it was used to address asthma and epilepsy, as well as skin diseases such as eczema, acne, pruritus and impetigo.
Chestnut Extract is a derivative of the Horse Chestnut Tree, which is a fruit baring tree that is indigenous to Asia and northern Greece. It is used in many botanically based skin care products, because it is believed to be able to augment the skin’s barrier in order to help the skin retain and restore lipids.

 | Lifestyle |
While reviewing this website we were struck by the fact that this product promises to help users restore “Optimal hydration”, yet we saw little indication that the elements used in this product have any real ability to address this issue alone or when used together. In fact our findings show that Hyaluronic Acid, is really unrivaled when it come to being able to hydrate the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid has been proven to have a unique ability to help the skin retain water more effectively, so that it when it is used in a topical formula increases skin smoothness, as well as maintaining and promoting skin softening and elasticity, all of which can effectively combat facial wrinkles.
|
 | Positives |
• Contains basic minerals and vitamins
|
 | Negatives |
• Does not contain Hyaluronic Acid
• Does not replenish with Real Collagen

 | Final Thoughts |
The use of herbal extracts in Sisley HYDRA-GLOBAL Intense Anti-Aging Hydration serum may well be extremely appealing to some consumers; and while its use of these extracts may help increase the skins hydration somewhat, we are not convinced that it is as effective as Hyaluronic Acid. We actually have a hard time understanding why it is not used in formulas such as this one, because it is a naturally occurring element already found in the human body.
In fact, it is often the lack of Hyaluronic Acid, combined with a reduction in collagen production that causes degeneration of the facial skin, thereby causing wrinkles. Anti-aging formulas that use both Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen, have been shown to be by far the most effective available to consumers. They play off each others strengths while reducing each others weaknesses in order to effectively revitalize the skin, slow down the appearance of aging and combat wrinkles. It is unfortunate that neither of these elements is used in this formula, because they could have taken it to a higher level of effectiveness.
