While we have heard excellent things about Damiana’s ability to enhance male sexual desire and performance, we are not certain that this ingredient in isolation is likely to benefit women. This product’s description does not seem to specify how quickly it works, but it does indicate that Mexican women traditionally take Damiana “one to two hours before intercourse.” This is another reason we tend to prefer topical formulations. A product that is applied directly to the clitoris tends to generate increased sensitivity, arousal, and excitement rather quickly. This immediately heightened feeling of arousal also may serve to prompt lubrication and sexual readiness. It seems to us that the results from a capsule product may not be as fast or as intense.
