We believe that the ingredient Menthol is a powerful component in creating an invigorating, stirring rush of blood to the clitoris. This activation of the nerve endings in this sensitive area is crucial to arousal and orgasm. However, we are unclear as to why this formulation includes ingredients that appear to be primarily used for depression. One researcher said of the ingredient L-Phenylalanine: “L-phenylalanine may be helpful in some with depression.

L-Phenylalanine's antidepressant activity may be accounted for by its precursor role in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine. Elevated brain norepinephrine and dopamine levels are thought to be associated with antidepressant effects.” L-Tyrosine, similarly, is said to have “antidepressant” mechanisms. One expert claims, “L-Tyrosoine is known as the ‘antidepressant’ amino acid cause appears to have a mild stimulatory effect on the Central Nervous System.”

We cannot help but wonder if, based on the “antidepressant” ingredients utilized in this formation, the manufacturer believes that female sexual dysfunction is “psychological” in nature. While in some cases, this may be the case, we feel that it is erroneous to make this assumption across the board. For those whose sexual dysfunction may be rooted in depression, we believe it is wiser to address these psychological causes first. Simply utilizing a topical product containing herbal “antidepressants” seems unlikely to rectify a more deeply-rooted problem. For women whose sexual dysfunction may simply be based in desensitized nerve endings and inhibited blood flow, we feel it is almost insulting to imply a psychological condition.

While we find that this product certainly utilizes some quality ingredients and an effective delivery method, we feel that its “antidepressant” components seem unnecessary and irrelevant. We believe that for the majority of women, natural clitoral stimulation is all that is necessary to greatly enhance sexual desire.

Currently, there are some excellent topical formulations that address clitoral blood flow naturally through ingredients such as Menthol, Peppermint and Sweet Almond. These formulations enhance sensation without interfering with the brain’s neurotransmitters.
